The Web3 security platform Hacken has encountered a serious security incident affecting its native cryptocurrency token $HAI. This incident became known through reports from the security group Cyvers Alerts.
Security Incident at Hacken
The recent security incident at Hacken occurred due to the compromise of a private key linked to bridge deployment. This allowed the hacker to gain access to the deployment wallet and create exclusive tokens randomly.
Financial Consequences of the Breach
Despite the large number of minted tokens, the financial damage to Hacken is currently limited due to liquidity constraints on decentralized exchanges hosting the $HAI token. The attacker managed to swap only about $253,000 in $HAI tokens on the BNB ecosystem, which amounts to approximately 900 million tokens.
Precautionary Measures from Hacken
In response to the incident, Hacken has halted cross-chain bridge contracts, particularly $BSC-$VET and $ETH-$VET, as a precautionary measure to prevent further unauthorized actions. The platform assures the community that further details will be provided as the investigation continues.
The incident at Hacken highlights the importance of security in the Web3 space and the necessity of constant system monitoring to prevent such threats.
