From March 7-9, UC Berkeley hosted the Flare x Google Cloud Hackathon to explore how blockchain can support AI-powered applications. Students and researchers from several universities joined this event.
Participants and Technology
Representatives from UC Berkeley, the University of Waterloo, and ETH Zurich participated in projects using Google Cloud's Confidential Space—a secure environment. Advanced cryptographic attestations ensure correct AI computation, verifiable on the Flare blockchain.
The 2DeFi Project
The project 2DeFi, created by University of Waterloo students, ranked first in the AI x DeFi track. It assists traditional finance users in engaging with decentralized finance on the Flare platform.
Flare AI Kit
The hackathon also marked the debut of the Flare AI Kit, an open-source SDK for building AI-powered blockchain applications. Plans are to expand the platform and feature it on Google Cloud Marketplace as a production-ready solution.
The Flare x Google Cloud Hackathon showcased how blockchain can support AI applications, providing high levels of trust and security, marking a step forward in tech integration.
