Nigerian educational startup HiPrep has been selected as one of 12 participants in the third cohort of the Mastercard Foundation EdTech Fellowship, aimed at supporting future leaders in educational technology.
Recognition of HiPrep Startup
Founded by Adanma Ugwu, HiPrep was included in the fellowship, which offers up to $100,000 in non-equity grants and mentorship support. Adanma shared, "Everything about this experience is both new and exciting for my team and me, and to be honest, a little overwhelming", emphasizing that the support network will be critical for scaling the startup.
Focus on Developing the Lumi Platform
The Lumi platform, acting as a personal AI tutor, is currently being tested with the company's students and has already received positive feedback. "The feedback so far has been incredible", emphasized Adanma. She plans to focus on enhancing the technology and content of the platform over the next six months.
Significance of EdTech Fellowship for Africa
The EdTech Fellowship, now in its third year, plays a vital role in addressing educational gaps in Africa. This year, the program focuses on supporting startups, with a majority of female-led initiatives. "With the backing from the Mastercard Foundation, we are more than determined to do more", added Adanma, highlighting the importance of innovations in education.
With the fellowship's resources and support from CcHUB and Mastercard Foundation, HiPrep aims to expand its influence in the education sector, striving to make the learning process more accessible and impactful for students in Nigeria and beyond.
