Initiated by KuCoin, Global CSR, and Smiling Simon Greenbuild Foundation, the 'Light Up Africa' project provides solar lamps to children in Africa, enhancing their learning conditions.
Initiative Launch
The 'Light Up Africa' project was announced at the 28th UN Climate Change Conference in 2023. KuCoin committed to supporting social initiatives and launched a series of public welfare projects, with 'Light Up Africa' standing out for its impact.
Lamp Delivery and Distribution
Through the donation of solar lamps, the project enables children in rural African areas to study at night. In February 2024, the first batch of 2,500 lamps was delivered to 25 schools in Nigeria. By October 2024, an additional 7,200 lamps were distributed across communities in Sierra Leone, Nigeria, and Ghana.
Impact and Gratitude
At the ceremony in Ghana, Dr. Anita Nana Okuribido expressed gratitude to KuCoin for significantly improving learning conditions. One lamp impacts at least five students, thus benefiting 36,000 children. Zhao Jing emphasized that this is not just material aid but a powerful encouragement for African children.
KuCoin continues its mission to support education and sustainable development, enhancing the quality of life and illuminating the path to knowledge for children in Africa.
