Women in Web3 emphasize that clarity, education, and community are key factors in attracting more women into the crypto industry.
Simplifying Technical Concepts
At the Blockchain Baddies event during Token2049 in Dubai, women shared personal experiences and discussed how to simplify technical concepts to attract more women into Web3. Caroline York, marketing director of Serotonin, highlighted that information needs to be made more accessible: "To attract more women, we need to make the information much more digestible and clearer." She also emphasized that women learn from each other and prefer to learn in trusting groups with friends and peers.
Financial Literacy as a Foundation
Paloma Soria Brown, an author and SheFi scholar, stated that the starting point should be education based on financial literacy. "People don't necessarily know what Web3 means. Knowledge about crypto may lead to distrust due to scams," she noted. Brown believes that understanding the concepts of ownership and community in Web3 can attract more people, including women.
Companies' Role in Making Crypto Tools Accessible
Abigail Xavier, marketing manager at the Web3 financial platform Fasset, emphasized that companies should play an active role in making crypto tools more accessible to women. She stated that their team aims to consider the perspectives of women-focused communities to improve their products. "We are partnering with women-inclusive communities to understand their experiences and gather feedback on our UI," she said.
Discussions at the event highlighted that educational initiatives and simplifying information are vital steps towards attracting women to Web3. Increasing female participation in the crypto industry could have a positive impact on its growth and shaping the future.
