The recent conviction of Hunter Biden, son of United States President Joe Biden, on three charges in a federal gun case led to a surge and subsequent fall in Solana memecoins related to the Biden family. The memecoin named Jeo Boden (BODEN), a playful reference to the president, experienced a significant 26% increase to reach almost $0.20 within five hours of the jury's verdict on June 11. This jump was reported by Coingecko, a cryptocurrency data platform.

CoinGecko also observed a parallel movement in the Hunter Boden (HUNTBODEN) token, which saw a substantial 116% rise to $0.0022, albeit a fraction of a cent. In contrast, the Jill Boden (JILLBODEN) token experienced a sharp decline of 9% during the same period.

Despite the initial surge, both BODEN and HUNTBODEN later faced setbacks, with a respective decrease of 6% and nearly 54% in the last 24 hours. JILLBODEN also saw a decline of 14.7% in value.

The market capitalization of HUNTBODEN stands at under $583,000, significantly lower than BODEN's market cap, which exceeds $124.6 million, as reported by GeckoTerminal.

Hunter Biden's conviction, stemming from charges related to falsifying information to purchase a firearm in 2018, could potentially lead to a maximum prison sentence of 25 years. This development had ripple effects within the meme token space, impacting not only Solana memecoins but also other major cryptocurrencies like Dogecoin, Shiba Inu, and Bitcoin, all of which experienced price drops in the wake of these events.

The broader market downturn coincided with declines in meme tokens such as Dogecoin, Shiba Inu, and Dogwifhat (WIF). Even established cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin (BTC) and Ether (ETH) saw respective drops of 3% and 4.5% in the last day.
