  • Wepublic to facilitate pastors and elders elections on April 9th
  • Introducing a blockchain-based voting system to enhance trust
  • Plans to extend the reliable service to various institutions
  • Wemeade Co., Ltd.'s Wepublic, a transparent community platform, will be utilized in the upcoming elections of The Presbyterian Church of Korea (General Assembly) Seoul Gangnam Presbytery. This organization comprises churches in Seoul's Gangnam area, as well as parts of Gyeonggi province such as Yongin and Bundang.

At the 74th regular meeting on April 9th, the Seoul Gangnam Presbytery will adopt the Wepublic voting system to select pastoral and elder delegates. Only attendees who verify their presence using the SBT (Soul Bound Token) issued by Wepublic will be eligible to vote. Following the voting process, users can access the election results through Wepublic.

The Wepublic voting system operates on a Proof of Results protocol, where all stages from proposal to final results are transparently recorded on the blockchain. This ensures elements such as secret ballots, tamper-proof data, and permanent result storage, boosting user confidence and encouraging active involvement in decision-making. The election process and outcomes are immediately accessible to all participants.

Recently, Handong University successfully completed 12 elections, including student council and autonomous committee elections, by leveraging the Wepublic blockchain voting system. This system addresses security and identity verification concerns present in traditional electronic voting methods, receiving positive feedback from students.

The Seoul Gangnam Presbytery foresees that implementing Wepublic will streamline decision-making processes and restore trust within the organization. Additionally, other regional presbyteries within The Presbyterian Church of Korea (General Assembly) may consider adopting the Wepublic blockchain voting system following this election.

Wepublic offers a blockchain voting solution that combines the reliability of blockchain technology with the convenience of online voting, catering to a diverse range of institutions. There are plans in place to expand the service scope to cover not only universities and religious groups but also apartment reconstruction associations, shareholder meetings, and more.

For more details about Wepublic, please refer to the official website.
