The Dantewada district administration in India has completed a project to digitize all land records dating back to the 1950s using the Avalanche blockchain.
Digitization of Land Records
On March 6, the Dantewada District Administration of Chhattisgarh announced the digitization of over 700,000 land records. These were secured on the Avalanche blockchain in collaboration with Indian startup LegitDoc by Zupple Labs.
Role of Blockchain in the Project
The blockchain-based land records application allows officers to search for land properties and view digitized records on blockchain. Various government records such as B-1 forms, rights records, and cadastral maps can be verified over blockchain. Smart contracts associated with these documents are accessible via the Avalanche Explorer.
Benefits for Citizens
The initiative eliminates the need for manual searches, aiding tribal communities and farmers in securing ownership records and reducing disputes. Additionally, automating processes reduces costs and speeds up application processing.
Digitizing land records on the Avalanche blockchain in Dantewada represents a significant step in ensuring transparency and information accessibility for citizens. This initiative opens new prospects for land resource management in the region.
