Evan Frederick Light was convicted of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and conspiracy to launder money. He was sentenced to 20 years in federal prison with a three-year supervised release following his sentence. Court documents reveal that Light illegally accessed an investment firm platform in South Dakota in February 2022, stealing personal identity information and $37 million in digital assets from over 600 victims. He used various services and gambling websites to obfuscate his identity and the stolen funds.
Light will serve his sentence under the supervision of the US Marshals Service to prevent further criminal activities.
