The payment platform Infini has filed a lawsuit following a hack that drained $50 million in crypto assets. The defendants include the developer Chen Shanxuan and three unidentified individuals.
Details of the Lawsuit
On March 24, the Infini team sent an onchain message naming developer Chen Shanxuan and three unidentified individuals with access to the exploited wallets as defendants. The Hong Kong court also sent an injunction order through an onchain message, requiring the defendants to attend the hearing.
Reward Offer to the Hacker
Following the February 24 hack, Infini offered hackers a 20% bounty if they returned 80% of the stolen funds. The platform stated it would cease tracking and analysis upon receipt of the funds. However, the hacker did not return the assets, despite warnings.
Context of Crypto Attacks
The incident comes shortly after Bybit was hacked, losing $1.4 billion in crypto assets. FearsOff's executive stated that the Infini attack was strategically timed, taking advantage of the focus on Bybit's investigation, increasing the chances of a successful hack.
The hack on Infini highlights the growing security risks within the cryptocurrency sector. While Infini's efforts to recover the assets and seek justice are ongoing, the incident underscores the importance of enhanced security measures and legal frameworks in the crypto industry.
