Infura strengthens its decentralized infrastructure network through a partnership with Ethereum's protocol, EigenLayer. This upgrade will create new opportunities for Web3 developers.
Partnership with EigenLayer
Infura's Decentralized Infrastructure Network (DIN) enables developers to access Ethereum and other leading networks. The partnership with EigenLayer leverages its Actively Validated Service (AVS) framework to establish a larger decentralized marketplace for infrastructure services. EigenLayer’s restaking protocol allows Ether holders to earn extra rewards by validating off-chain operations.
Integration Benefits for Developers
The integration offers several advantages including reduced development costs, improved service reliability, and enhanced accessibility for developers. Tom Hay, head of product for DIN at Infura, emphasized the importance of Ethereum’s economic security in this process.
Development of Linea Association
Parallel to this, Consensys launched the Linea Association, an independent Swiss nonprofit, to oversee the development and governance of their zkEVM rollup project, Linea. By early 2025, the introduction of the LINEA token is planned to enable token holders to participate in decentralized governance.
Infura's partnership with EigenLayer represents a significant step in developing decentralized infrastructure services, while the establishment of the Linea Association shows a commitment to advancing blockchain technologies and their governance.
