Interchain Foundation announced evmOS's transition to an open platform under the new name Cosmos EVM. This decision aims to improve Ethereum integration within the Cosmos ecosystem.
Cosmos EVM Launch
The Interchain Foundation announced that evmOS will become fully open under the Apache 2.0 license and will be known as Cosmos EVM. This change will allow developers greater freedom to modify and deploy Cosmos EVM across various applications, fostering a more inclusive and decentralized development ecosystem.
Role of Federico Kunze Küllmer
Federico Kunze Küllmer, co-founder of Evmos and core contributor to evmOS, will step away from his previous role to become a strategic advisor on Ethereum interoperability and modular blockchain architecture. 'Building evmOS has been an incredible journey, and I am proud of the impact we’ve had on building the EVM ecosystem on Cosmos,' said Kunze Küllmer.
Future of Cosmos EVM
Under the guidance of the Interchain Foundation, Cosmos EVM will continue to integrate into the Interchain Stack, strengthening its position as the canonical solution for Cosmos chains. Work on Cosmos EVM will enhance the EVM ecosystem and support Ethereum compatibility within the Cosmos network.
The decision for evmOS’s future as Cosmos EVM marks a significant step in improving interaction between the Cosmos and Ethereum ecosystems, as announced in a recent Interchain Foundation presentation.
