Ondo Finance and Pantera Capital have announced a joint $250 million fund to invest in asset tokenization projects, highlighting the growing interest in tokenized assets in financial markets.
Launch of Ondo Catalyst
In an exclusive interview with Axios, Ondo's chief strategist Ian De Bode stated that the capital will be deployed through a new initiative called Ondo Catalyst. This fund will acquire equity and tokens in emerging real-world asset projects.
Asset Tokenization Strategy
The investment will target startups tokenizing traditional financial instruments such as bonds, stocks, and private equity. De Bode characterized the real-world asset tokenization space as an 'arms race,' driven by high demand for market access and more efficient capital infrastructure.
Ondo's Expansion in Tokenization Sector
Recently, Ondo launched Ondo Global Markets, a platform for accessing tokenized US stocks, bonds, and ETFs. Meanwhile, the company is actively engaging with US regulators to shape policy around tokenized assets.
The $250 million investment underscores the significant role of developing and legitimizing tokenized assets within financial markets, potentially altering the approach to traditional investments.
