The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced the forgery of UTME resit results being circulated online. The organization encourages candidates to ignore these fake messages.
Fake Messages about Results
JAMB stated that numerous counterfeit messages are being disseminated through a spoofed version of its official shortcode 66019. These messages, JAMB explains, aim to deceive candidates and commit fraud. *“These messages instruct candidates—some of whom have already sat the resit examination and received their results—to reprint examination slips for another examination,”* said JAMB spokesperson Fabian Benjamin.
Plans for 2025
The organization clarified that there are currently no planned resit examinations. *“The only examination that JAMB is planning to conduct will be abroad in nine countries across Europe, the Middle East, and some African nations,”* they added. In 2025, a mop-up exam will also be held for candidates who missed earlier sessions due to biometric issues or those granted waivers.
Improvement in UTME Results
Last week, reports emerged that JAMB had released results of the 2025 UTME resit, showing a significant improvement in candidates' performance. According to a comparative analysis shared by education advocate Alex Onyia, *“the results of UTME 2025 show a remarkable turnaround.”* His data indicates that the number of candidates scoring 300 and above increased from 0.46% in 2024 to 0.88% in 2025.
JAMB urges all candidates and stakeholders to disregard fake messages and await official communications regarding future examination schedules.
