US Vice President JD Vance has expressed confidence in reaching an agreement to keep TikTok operational in the country by April 5. Discussions are ongoing to secure national security.
TikTok negotiations in full swing
In an interview with NBC News, JD Vance noted that there will almost certainly be a high-level agreement to satisfy US national security concerns. On his first day in office, Donald Trump signed an executive order to find a way to safeguard national security without shutting down TikTok and tasked Vance with leading the efforts to sell the app to a US entity.
Possible delays in the deal
Vance indicated that clerical issues might push the agreement past the deadline. He mentioned that deals much smaller and involving less capital usually take months to close, with the main delay potentially lying in handling the extensive paperwork.
Potential TikTok buyers
Potential buyers of TikTok include businessmen like Reid Rasner and Larry Ellison. Rasner claims to have offered $47.45 billion for the app. Oracle is also considered a potential partner for storing TikTok user data in the US.
JD Vance is hopeful that TikTok will continue operations in the US with ensured data security and national interests.
