  4. Pro-crypto attorney John Deaton has won the Republican nomination for the U.S. Senate in Massachusetts and will face Democratic Senator Elizabeth Warren in November.

    Election Results

Deaton, a former Marine and outspoken advocate of Ripple and XRP, defeated two other Republican candidates: industrial engineer Bob Antonellis and Quincy city council president Ian Cain. According to the Associated Press, he secured 64% of the vote with more than 43% of the state’s total votes counted.

    Support from Crypto Industry

Deaton’s campaign was bolstered by support from prominent figures in the crypto industry, including the Winklevoss twins and executives from fintech firm Ripple. The Commonwealth Unity Fund, a political action committee, allocated more than $1 million in support of Deaton's Senate bid. His top donors included Ripple executives, Gemini founders, and other notable crypto industry leaders.

    Next Steps

In November, Deaton will face Senator Elizabeth Warren, who is seeking a third term. Warren has won her Senate seat twice and is unopposed for the Democratic nomination. In April, Deaton filed an amicus brief in support of Coinbase in its case against the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.

The upcoming November face-off between Deaton and Warren promises to be intriguing, given Deaton’s crypto industry backing and his proactive stance on crypto-related issues.
