Jordi Baylina, co-founder of Polygon, has announced the launch of a new project, ZisK, focused on supporting zero-knowledge technology and multiple programming languages.
Launch of ZisK
Baylina confirmed the launch of ZisK in a social media post. The project is a fully open-source zero-knowledge virtual machine (zkEVM) stack initially developed at Polygon. He will focus on developing ZisK while continuing to serve in an advisory role at Polygon.
ZisK Development Team
The project will include seven additional developers, described as the 'core minds' behind the Polygon zkEVM. The development team has worked together for at least three years. ZisK is described as modular in design and will support high-level programming languages like Rust.
Changes in Polygon's Leadership
The launch of ZisK comes shortly after Sandeep Nailwal took full executive control of the Polygon Foundation. Nailwal has become the first official CEO of the Foundation, which oversees Polygon Labs and the broader layer-2 ecosystem. He noted that former co-founder Mihailo Bjelic was a significant force in Polygon's development.
The launch of ZisK and the changes in Polygon's leadership highlight the ongoing progress and competitiveness in the Ethereum layer-2 space, where zero-knowledge technologies may significantly alter blockchain infrastructure.
