Lagrange and Matter Labs announced an innovative agreement to decentralize the proof generation process for ZK-rollup.
Agreement with Matter Labs
On March 20, 2025, Lagrange and Matter Labs reached an agreement to direct up to 75% of Matter Labs' proof generation requests to the decentralized Lagrange Prover Network over the next two years. This represents a significant step towards decentralizing the proof process for ZK-rollups.
Lagrange Technical Achievements
In January 2025, Lagrange integrated a decentralized version of ZKsync's ZK Stack prover, offering an alternative to centralized proof generation. The Lagrange Prover Network has demonstrated cost reduction and throughput improvements, contributing to lower gas fees and accelerated transactions for ZKsync users.
Impact on the ZKsync Ecosystem
According to DappRadar data, the ZKsync ecosystem currently includes approximately 25 ZK stack chains and 300 applications. Over the past month, 1.3 million transactions have been recorded. Platforms such as Caldera and AltLayer also utilize the Lagrange Prover Network for proof generation. The agreement aids in reducing operational expenses and provides continuous service through a network of independent provers.
This agreement highlights significant progress towards decentralization and scalability in blockchain solutions. Lagrange and Matter Labs aim to create a sustainable and efficient environment for ZK-rollups.
