The Linea Association, based in Switzerland, officially launched at Devcon in Bangkok, aiming to accelerate the decentralization of the Ethereum network.
Objectives of the Linea Association
The Linea Association will focus on supporting the Linea technology, developing its market, and advancing its decentralization roadmap. Linea product lead Declan Fox highlighted the significance of these directions for further development.
New Governance System
A core feature of the Association will be the issuance of the Linea token in the first quarter of 2025, which will underpin governance over certain activities of the Association. This will enable token holders to participate in managing and evolving the technology.
Decentralization as Linea’s Vision Core
Linea, initiated by Consensys, is built on the idea of decentralization. Linea founder Nicolas Liochon emphasized that the platform must be open and independently governed, similar to layer 1 Ethereum.
The Linea Association represents a step towards the decentralization of the Ethereum platform, with the aim of managing the platform openly and independently as a public good.
