In a new index of crypto-friendliness for 2025, Ljubljana has taken the top spot, confirming its reputation as a center for digital currency use.
Asian Cities Lead the List
The immigration investment platform Multipolitan released the '2025 Crypto-Friendly Cities Index' report, which assessed the crypto-friendliness of cities through five indicators: regulatory environment, quality of life, tax system, digital infrastructure, and available crypto infrastructure. Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia, came first with 173 points, followed by Hong Kong and Zurich with 172 points each.
Capital Migration to Clear Crypto Policies
There is a clear migration of crypto wealth from regulatory-unfriendly regions to emerging financial centers like the UAE, Singapore, and Hong Kong. This trend indicates a shift in control from traditional financial cities to emerging global hubs that support crypto infrastructure.
Why Ljubljana?
Ljubljana has outstanding crypto infrastructure, including around 150 crypto ATMs across the city, and many local merchants accept cryptocurrencies as payment. This promotes financial inclusion and daily use of digital assets. Additionally, local support from organizations like Blockchain Alliance Europe helps connect businesses and individuals interested in crypto.
Thus, through its efforts in digital infrastructure and active cryptocurrency adoption, Ljubljana has not only established itself as a leader among crypto-friendly cities but also serves as a model for other cities looking to create similar conditions.
