Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia, has secured the top position in the 2025 Crypto-Friendly Cities Index, surpassing major financial centers like Hong Kong and Zurich.
Ljubljana Outshines Global Financial Hubs
According to the annual report by the agency Multipolitan, Ljubljana received high ratings due to its favorable regulatory environment and crypto infrastructure. The city has shown notable progress in areas such as crypto ATM installation and retail adoption of cryptocurrencies, which has led to the development of a blockchain-based startup culture. Factors such as internet speeds, GDP per capita, and housing affordability also influenced the final scores.
Ljubljana Leads in Crypto Wealth Concentration
Ljubljana also stands out for its level of crypto wealth concentration. According to Multipolitan's parallel Crypto Wealth Index, the average Slovenian crypto holder possesses approximately $240,500 in digital assets, significantly exceeding the average in Cyprus, which is around $175,000, and the U.S. average of $23,300. This position is strengthened by Slovenia's status within the European Union and its positive regulatory landscape.
Prospects of Crypto Technologies in Slovenia
Ljubljana is home to key players in the blockchain space, such as the Blockchain Alliance Europe. The city has also become the venue for important partnerships, such as between Blocksquare and Vera Capital, who announced plans to tokenize $1 billion worth of U.S. real estate, further consolidating the city's status as a center for crypto technologies.
Ljubljana continues to solidify its position as one of the leading hubs for crypto initiatives and startups amid the global evolvement of cryptocurrencies.
