Meta Platforms has finalized several agreements with Invenergy to provide clean energy to its data centers, addressing the growing energy demands due to increasing AI services.
Agreement with Invenergy
Meta has signed four agreements with Invenergy to secure 791 MW of solar and wind energy for its data centers. These deals bring the total partnership capacity to 1,800 MW.
Under the new agreements, Invenergy will channel electricity from projects in Ohio, Arkansas, and Texas into local grids, while Meta will claim renewable energy credits associated with the output as the facilities come online.
Meta's Clean Energy Strategy
Meta is actively seeking ways to increase its clean energy supply for data centers as energy needs continue to rise. The company has secured deals with several major solar projects and is exploring bids from nuclear energy suppliers. This strategy aims to reduce carbon footprints and promote sustainability.
Additional Agreements with Adapture Renewables
Meta has also signed two Environmental Attributes Purchase Agreements with Adapture Renewables, set to supply 360 MW from Texas solar parks. These agreements enhance the company's purchasing strategies aimed at decarbonizing its portfolio and expanding its clean energy footprint.
