    Codename 'Puffin'

Employees at Meta have named the new mixed reality glasses 'Puffin'. They are set to be launched by 2027. According to reports, these glasses will be significantly smaller than existing Quest headsets and will not require handheld controllers for operation.

    Functionality and Design

The device will be operated via hand gestures, similar to the Apple Vision Pro. Unlike other large headset-style devices, 'Puffin' will be more affordable and compact, potentially attracting a wider user base. The new mixed reality glasses will enable users to interact with both digital and real objects, blending the real world with virtual reality.

    Reality Labs Financial Results

Meta's Reality Labs division has been heavily investing in research and development since its inception in 2019. Despite the financial losses, Meta's CFO Susan Li expects Reality Labs' operating losses to decrease significantly in the future, in light of upcoming product releases.

Meta's 'Puffin' project may mark the next milestone in mixed reality, offering more convenient and affordable devices for users worldwide.
