In a recent interview, MetaMask co-founder Dan Finlay shared that the company continues to consider a native token launch, despite the absence of specific plans.
Token Launch Plans for MetaMask
In response to a question about the token launch, Finlay simply stated, 'maybe.' He noted that there is a lot of speculation surrounding the token's launch, and that the company hinted at it as early as 2021.
Methods of Announcing the Token
Finlay indicated that should the MetaMask team decide to launch a token, information would be accessible directly within the user's digital wallet. 'You won't find a link on social media that you've never heard of,' he said. Announcements about the token launch will not be sent via email or text message.
Regulatory Environment and Token Launch Safety
Finlay also mentioned that the changing regulatory environment in the U.S. creates more opportunities for launching various types of tokens. 'Hopefully, people take this opportunity to push boundaries and establish precedents for what we can all be doing,' he added.
The co-founder of MetaMask emphasized that the company continues to analyze the possibility of launching a token, focusing on safety and transparency, which could be an important step for legitimizing crypto projects.
