Tokyo-based company Metaplanet has strengthened its Bitcoin strategy by acquiring 1,111 BTC worth $118 million. This significantly raises its total Bitcoin holdings to 11,111 BTC.
Increase in Bitcoin Holdings
The recent purchase involved Metaplanet acquiring Bitcoin at an average price of $106,408 per coin. This move follows the company’s previous purchase of 1,112 BTC last week, which helped it surpass its earlier goal of 10,000 BTC for the year.
Yields and Stock Reaction
Year-to-date, Metaplanet has achieved a 306.7% yield on its Bitcoin holdings, driven by sharp price increases in Q1 and Q2. However, the company’s stock fell over 3% on Monday to 1,716 yen due to investor profit-taking.
Debt Financing and Future Plans
To support its acquisition goals, Metaplanet recently issued $210 million in bonds. The funds will be directed toward future Bitcoin purchases as part of its "Accelerated 2025–2027 Bitcoin Plan."
Metaplanet aims to achieve ambitious Bitcoin acquisition goals, and its ongoing implementation of the strategy positions the company as one of the most aggressive institutional buyers in the market.
