Recent Bitcoin Purchase
The company, recognized as Asia's top publicly traded Bitcoin holder, purchased an additional 2,205 BTC, worth approximately 31.7 billion yen. This brings Metaplanet's total Bitcoin holdings to 15,555 BTC, equivalent to an estimated asset value of $1.7 billion.
Market Impact and Results
In response to the announcement, the company's shares saw a modest uptick, increasing by 0.39% to 1,551 yen. Despite a dip of about 6% over the past five days, Metaplanet's stock has risen roughly 15% over the last month. Additionally, a sharp weekly rise in BTC Yield—up by 15.1%—was reported.
Asset Accumulation Strategy
CEO Simon Gerovich stated that the newly acquired Bitcoins cost $238.7 million, averaging $108,237 per BTC. The BTC Yield metric reflects Metaplanet's effective strategy in growing per-share Bitcoin value, even while issuing new shares.
