Metaplanet, Japan’s leading crypto company, has announced plans to boost its Bitcoin reserves to 10,000 BTC by 2025. CEO Simon Gerovich shared this ambitious target in a New Year's message to shareholders.
Increasing Bitcoin Reserves
Throughout 2024, Metaplanet consistently increased its Bitcoin holdings. The company raised its reserves from 225.611 BTC in July to 1,761.98 BTC by December 23.
Financing and Transformation
The company financed this growth through capital market activities, including two significant bond issuances in December. Metaplanet officially transformed into a Bitcoin Treasury Company on December 18, 2024, acquiring 619.70 BTC that day.
Strategic Plan for 2025
Beyond merely accumulating Bitcoin, the strategic initiatives for 2025 include improving shareholder transparency, expanding global partnerships, and strengthening Metaplanet’s position in Japan’s crypto ecosystem.
Metaplanet’s plan to expand its Bitcoin reserves to 10,000 BTC represents nearly a sixfold increase from current holdings and potentially elevate the company higher in the global Bitcoin holder rankings.
