Metaplanet has made a significant step by achieving a holding of 10,000 BTC. This milestone was reached six months ahead of the planned timeline.
Achieved Milestone of 10,000 BTC
On June 16, Metaplanet announced the acquisition of an additional 1,112 Bitcoin at an average price of 15.18 million yen per BTC, roughly $105,000. This brought the company's total holdings to 10,000 BTC, marking an important milestone in its Bitcoin accumulation strategy.
Financing of BTC Purchase
The latest purchase was financed through the issuance of a new $210 million bond to EVO Fund, also announced on June 16. These zero-interest bonds are scheduled to mature in December 2025 but can be redeemed earlier.
New Goals and Metrics of the Company
Initially, Metaplanet's goal was to reach 21,000 BTC by 2026, but in June they raised their ambitions to target 100,000 BTC by the end of 2026 and 210,000 BTC by 2027. The BTC Yield metric, measuring Bitcoin held per fully diluted share, was 87.2% as of June 16.
Metaplanet continues to actively focus on Bitcoin purchases, aiming to strengthen its position in the cryptocurrency market, making it one of the largest corporate holders of BTC worldwide.
