Multicoin Capital, an investment firm specializing in tokens and blockchain enterprises, has announced an initiative to match every Solana contribution made to the Sentinel Action Fund super political action committee (PAC) until July 14. This fundraising campaign aims to bolster the electoral bids of four pro-crypto Republican candidates vying for U.S. Senate positions.

The four candidates backed by the Sentinel Action Fund include Sam Brown from Nevada, David McCormick from Pennsylvania, Bernie Moreno from Ohio, and Tim Sheehy from Montana. Notably, all of these contenders have earned stellar ratings ('strongly supports crypto') from Stand With Crypto, a group supported by Coinbase.

Characteristics of a Pro-Crypto PAC

Kyle Samani, the managing partner at Multicoin Capital, highlighted in a communications thread that the Sentinel Action Fund champions conservative candidates committed to fostering responsible crypto innovation within the U.S. The PAC's official website asserts:

'The Sentinel Action Fund stands out as the sole conservative Super PAC advocating for Pro-Crypto Candidates and endorsing Pro-Crypto Innovation in America.'

The veracity of this claim appears evident through the 2022 candidates the PAC endorsed and opposed. According to data from Open Secrets, the Sentinel Action Fund, established in 2022, allocated $10.2 million to oppose five Democratic candidates and channeled $3 million to support 11 Republican candidates in the same election cycle. The PAC utilized almost all of its raised funds, retaining only $191,702.

The Sentinel Action Fund welcomes donations in various cryptocurrencies, offering contributors the option to donate using Solana, one of the digital assets in Multicoin Capital's investment portfolio.

Political Alignment versus Crypto Advocacy

Bernie Moreno is currently in a race against Sen. Sherrod Brown, who holds an 'F' rating ('strongly against crypto') as per Stand With Crypto. Brown is often viewed as an associate of Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren. Tim Sheehy is challenging Jon Tester, who received a 'C' rating on crypto issues. David McCormick is in competition with Bob Casey, also rated 'C' regarding crypto policy, while Sam Brown seeks to replace Jacky Rosen, who boasts an 'A' rating.

Jacky Rosen earned her 'A' rating from Stand With Crypto primarily due to her backing of the SAB 121 House Joint Resolution. While 62 Democratic officials have received 'A' ratings from Stand With Crypto, the number pales in comparison to the A-rated Republicans.

The brains behind the Sentinel Action Fund, Jessica Anderson, previously led Heritage Action, the political action division of the esteemed Heritage Foundation. Temporarily stepping back from Heritage Action, Anderson's focus is now on driving the activities of the PAC.
