Sei blockchain has announced the addition of native USDC and CCTP V2 support, greatly improving financial operations on the platform.
Native USDC Support on Sei
Sei blockchain now supports native USDC, the largest regulated stablecoin in the world. This update, according to Circle's announcement, will allow Sei to become a more integrated and stronger blockchain. Currently, USDC on Sei is provided through Noble using the Inter-Blockchain Communication (IBC) protocol.
Benefits of CCTP V2
CCTP V2 allows users to move their USDC between chains without losing value, utilizing 156 different routes. The direct support for native USDC will enhance operations with critical functionalities, such as ERC-20 compatibility and access to Circle Mint.
Sustained Growth of Sei Blockchain
Sei blockchain has shown significant growth, with its total value locked (TVL) rising by 188%, reaching $646 million as of July 10. Additionally, the number of daily transactions has increased by over 3,600% since the launch of Sei V2, with more than 200 applications now actively functioning on the network.
The support for native USDC and CCTP V2 on Sei blockchain is a vital step toward enhancing user experience and alleviating constraints in cross-chain transfers.
