At a conference in Bangkok, Thailand, NEAR Protocol unveiled its plan to create the world's largest open-source AI model, featuring 1.4 trillion parameters.

1.4 Trillion-Parameter Model

The project involves crowdsourced research and contributions from thousands of participants worldwide. They will collaborate to build and refine the model via NEAR AI Research Hub. Users can start by training a model with 500 million parameters.

Monetization and Privacy

A notable aspect is its business model. NEAR Protocol has developed a sustainable monetization structure through token sales to fund the training and computational needs. Co-founder Illia Polosukhin highlighted the feasibility of raising the necessary $160 million and explained that tokenholders will be rewarded for contributing to the project's success. The model will also protect user privacy through Encrypted Trusted Execution Environments.

AI Assistant: A Glimpse into the Future

In addition to the AI model, NEAR Protocol introduced an AI Assistant, showcasing the infrastructure's capabilities. The assistant can create memecoins, design websites, and find suppliers in seconds. Future enhancements are expected, enabling bookings and orders. A key feature is its chain abstraction technology, allowing assets exchange across multiple blockchains.

NEAR Protocol aims to revolutionize AI technologies with an open and sustainable model, promising a wealth of opportunities.
