At a conference in Thailand, NEAR Protocol unveiled its ambitious plan to create the world's largest open-source AI model with 1.4 trillion parameters.

Development and Collaborations

The model will be developed through crowdsourced research and contributions from participants worldwide. The development process will be accessible through the NEAR AI Research Hub, where users can begin by training a smaller 500 million-parameter model.

Monetization and Data Protection

NEAR Protocol has designed a sustainable business model that includes monetization through token sales to finance training and computational needs. Co-founder Illia Polosukhin mentioned that the necessary $160 million can be secured. Participants will be rewarded for their contributions, and modern data protection technologies will ensure safe usage.

Polosukhin also explained that tokenholders would be reimbursed through the inferences generated by the model.Illia Polosukhin

AI Assistant Prospects

In addition to the AI model, NEAR Protocol introduced an AI Assistant. This tool demonstrates NEAR's AI capabilities, allowing a range of actions from creating memecoins to finding T-shirt printing services.

NEAR Protocol's project demonstrates the potential for developing decentralized technologies and their integration with Web2 services.
