At the Bangkok conference, NEAR Protocol announced the launch of a project to create the world's largest AI model with 1.4 trillion parameters.
Development of the AI Model
The project will be realized through crowdsourced research and contributions from thousands of participants worldwide. The process will be accessible via the newly established NEAR AI Research Hub, where users can start by training a smaller 500 million-parameter model.
Monetization and Data Privacy
The business model involves monetizing the AI through token sales to fund the training and computational needs. Co-founder Illia Polosukhin highlighted the feasibility of securing the necessary $160 million. Encrypted Trusted Execution Environments will protect data, and contributors will be rewarded for their input.
AI Assistant: A Glimpse into the Future
The AI Assistant showcased at the conference demonstrates NEAR's AI infrastructure capabilities. Polosukhin used it to create memecoins and website designs. In the future, the assistant will interact with Web2 services through the blockchain and feature asset swapping across different blockchains.
NEAR Protocol's project promises significant advances in AI and blockchain technologies with its large-scale AI model and new AI Assistant capabilities.
