At its conference in Bangkok, Thailand, NEAR Protocol announced an ambitious project to build the world's largest open-source AI model with 1.4 trillion parameters, significantly surpassing Meta's existing model.

Community-Driven Development

The development of the new AI model by NEAR Protocol will be driven by thousands of researchers worldwide. The process will take place through the newly established NEAR AI Research Hub, where users can begin training on a 500 million-parameter model.

Monetization and Data Security

NEAR Protocol has developed a monetization model based on token sales to fund the training and computational resources of the AI model. Co-founder Illia Polosukhin highlighted the feasibility of securing $160 million for the model's development. Data protection will be ensured through TEEs technology.

Future with AI Assistant

Additionally, NEAR Protocol introduced an AI Assistant showcasing the capabilities of its AI infrastructure. The assistant can create memecoins, websites, and more. Future expansions will enable interactions with Web2 services via blockchain.

NEAR Protocol continues to showcase innovation in AI, drawing global attention and setting new industry standards.
