During its Bangkok conference, NEAR Protocol announced an ambitious project to develop the largest AI model, consisting of 1.4 trillion parameters, surpassing Meta's Llama model by 3.5 times. The model's development will be driven by crowdsourced research.
Creating the Largest AI Model
Thousands of participants worldwide will collaborate to build and refine the model through the NEAR AI Research Hub, starting with a smaller 500 million-parameter model.
Monetization and Data Privacy
The business model involves token sales to fund the model's training. Data protection relies on Encrypted Trusted Execution Environments. Co-founder Illia Polosukhin aims to secure the necessary $160 million, and tokenholders will be reimbursed via model usage.
AI Assistant and Future Possibilities
NEAR Protocol also introduced an AI Assistant at the conference, showcasing the abilities of NEAR’s AI infrastructure. The assistant can create memecoins, design websites, and interact with Web2 services via blockchain. Future versions may book flights and order food.
NEAR Protocol aims to advance AI technology through collaboration and innovation, offering new approaches to future technology interaction.
