On February 26, 2025, Japanese investment firm Metaplanet announced the introduction of two new key performance indicators aimed at enhancing the transparency of its Bitcoin operations.

Introduction of New Metrics by Metaplanet

Metaplanet has introduced two new performance metrics: 'BTC Gain' and 'BTC ¥ Gain'. These will supplement the previously used 'BTC Yield' metric, providing shareholders with deeper insights into capital allocation strategy and Bitcoin acquisition performance.

Significance and Calculation of Metrics

The new metrics were specifically developed to isolate the impact of dilution, enabling a more accurate assessment of Bitcoin acquisitions over time. 'BTC Gain' measures the hypothetical increase in the company's Bitcoin holdings over a specific period, while 'BTC ¥ Gain' converts this amount into Japanese yen.

Future Reports and Company Plans

Metaplanet will include these metrics in future Bitcoin acquisition disclosures, with updates provided quarterly. Recent data shows that as of February 25, the company holds 2,235 BTC.

The announcement of Metaplanet's new metrics coincides with the company's preparation to be included in the MSCI Japan Index on February 28, 2025, which may increase its visibility among institutional investors.
