The Nigerian Ministry of Interior plans to launch a new contactless passport renewal system in Europe, starting with the UK, by February 2025.
Launch of the New System in Europe
The Nigerian Immigration Service aims to implement a contactless passport renewal solution in Europe by February 7, 2025, with the UK as the controlling unit. Comptroller General Mrs. Kemi Nanna Nandap highlighted the importance of this initiative in facilitating a stress-free passport renewal process for Nigerians abroad.
Benefits and Features of the Program
The program is exclusively for passport renewals and not for new applicants or minors. It streamlines the application process, saving time and costs associated with travel. Nandap noted that Nigerians abroad can commence the renewal process a year before their passport's expiration.
Future Plans and Expansion
The Comptroller General also announced new passport front offices in the U.S. and other countries to enhance service accessibility. This aligns with NiDCOM's mission to promote efficient diaspora engagement.
The Ministry of Interior continues to expand opportunities for citizens abroad, aiming to simplify and enhance the passport renewal process.
