The Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy has announced the selection of 90,000 fellows for the third cohort of the 3 Million Technical Talent (3MTT) program.
Third Cohort Announcement
Minister Bosun Tijani announced the launch of the third cohort of the 3MTT program via social media, highlighting that applications remain open for Nigerians who have yet to participate. This cohort will begin their training journey, aiming to become part of a technical talent pool for the growing digital economy in Nigeria and worldwide.
About the 3MTT Program
The 3MTT program is a crucial part of President Bola Tinubu's administration plan. It is designed to build Nigeria's technical base to support the country's digital economy. Starting with 30,000 Nigerians, the program increased participation to 10% of the 3 million goal. The selection of an additional 90,000 participants for the third cohort now brings the number to 13%.
Partnerships and AI Development
Through partnerships with the United Nations and Google, the Ministry is enhancing AI and technical skills developments in Nigeria. A recent announcement of a 2.8 billion Naira fund dedicated to AI talent development, provided by Google.org, aligns with the Ministry's efforts to boost AI-driven initiatives.
The 3MTT program and its various phases are aimed at integrating innovative technologies and preparing new specialists for the digital economy. Partnerships with organizations like the United Nations and Google support the recruitment and training of young professionals, expanding the IT skills and opportunities for young Nigerians.
