Economist Nouriel Roubini has shared his insights on inflation in the US and future economic trends, highlighting potential risks.
Inflation Expectations
Nouriel Roubini stated he expects core inflation in the US to rise to 3.5% by the end of 2025. He added that the second half of 2025 will likely experience weaker growth and possibly a recession, while interest rate cuts from the Federal Reserve won’t happen before December.
Economic Forecasts and Risks
Roubini characterized the expected economic slowdown as a 'mini stagflationary shock' and warned that inflation remains too high for the Fed to pivot. He believes that the personal consumption expenditures index remains stubbornly above target, confining the Fed's options.
Atlas America Fund Strategy
Roubini, currently a portfolio manager at the Atlas America Fund (USAF), discussed the fund's strategy aimed at shielding investors from threats like inflation and economic shocks. Since its launch, the fund has achieved over 5% growth, despite its assets remaining relatively small at around $17 million.
Nouriel Roubini's forecasts emphasize the importance of monitoring economic indicators and potential financial changes in the face of global instability.
