OKX has acquired a MiFID II license, allowing it to offer regulated derivatives and investment products in the European Economic Area.
Acquisition of MiFID II License
OKX purchased an existing company in Malta to acquire the MiFID II license, enabling it to offer regulated derivatives in the EEA. Regulatory approval from the Malta Financial Services Authority (MFSA) is still required before offering these services.
Expansion of OKX Services in Europe
Upon license approval, the company plans to offer institutional products such as exotic options and hedging instruments. OKX already holds a MiCA license, allowing localized crypto trading in the EU. Plans include improving institutional connectivity and adding more fiat pairing options.
Strengthening Market Position
OKX currently supports over 240 tokens and 300 trading pairs. OKX Europe's CEO, Erald Ghoos, highlighted that the license enables collaborations with top financial institutions and broadens investment access across the continent, strengthening OKX's position in the regulated European crypto market.
Obtaining the MiFID II license places OKX at the forefront of regulated European crypto markets, providing institutional investors with secure and compliant services.
