San Francisco-based decentralized AI developer Sentient unveiled its upcoming release of Open Deep Search on April 2. ODS is the first open-source AI search system to surpass Perplexity and Perplexity Sonar Reasoning Pro in performance benchmarks.
Development and Funding
Sentient Labs, the developer behind ODS, was founded by former Polygon co-founder Sandeep Nailwal. The platform raised $85 million in seed funding led by Pantera Capital and Framework Ventures, alongside Peter Thiel’s Founders Fund.
Integration with Sentient Chat
Open Deep Search will be integrated into Sentient Chat, the company’s consumer-facing AI chatbot. The rollout will begin with early testers, followed by weekly feature updates ahead of a full public launch within the next two months.
