SoftBank has announced the launch of the 'Stargate Project' with OpenAI on January 21, 2025, aimed at building dedicated AI infrastructure in the US. This move supports OpenAI's growth and increases SoftBank's net asset value.
Future Investments and Partners
According to the agreement, SoftBank will invest $7.5 billion in OpenAI, including an investor syndicate contributing $2.5 billion. The list of investors includes Microsoft Corp., Coatue Management, Altimeter Capital Management, and Thrive Capital. A second round of funding for $30 billion is planned by the end of 2025.
