OpenAI has introduced a new AI agent called 'Deep Research' that enables users to perform complex research tasks.
Launch and Distribution
OpenAI announced in their blog that all ChatGPT Pro subscribers will gain access to this new feature with a limit of 100 monthly queries. Plus and Team users will get access next, followed by Enterprise.
Functional Capabilities
According to the performance benchmarks released by the team, Deep Research achieved an accuracy of 26.6% on Humanity’s Last Exam, surpassing previous AI models from OpenAI for high-level knowledge tasks. Each response process takes from 5 to 30 minutes, and users can include supporting files or spreadsheets in their queries. Currently, the Deep Research feature is available only on the ChatGpt web and will be available on mobile and desktop apps later this month.
Future Plans
The team clarified that every Deep Research response will include references and an explanation of the process used to derive conclusions, aiming to increase users’ trust in the results and enable effortless data verification. For now, the functionality is limited to text-based results, but future updates will see OpenAI incorporate image and data visualization systems along with analytical tools, extending 'access to subscription-based or internal resources'.
OpenAI continues to enhance the capabilities of its AI models, providing users with new tools for deeper and more precise research.
