Samsung announced its new foldable smartphones, the Galaxy Z Fold7 and Z Flip7, at the Galaxy Unpacked 2025 event, offering advanced technology and improved features.
Innovations in Design and Features
The Galaxy Z Fold7 is the lightest and thinnest device in its series, weighing only 215 grams and measuring 8.9 mm when folded. This was made possible by the new Armour Flex Hinge mechanism and Corning Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2. The device's main screen has been increased to 8 inches, making it suitable for work, while the 6.5-inch external display allows for quick tasks without having to open the device.
AI Integration and Creative Capabilities
The Z Fold7 and Flip7 smartphone lines incorporate Galaxy AI, optimized for foldable form factors via One UI 8 based on Android 16. "The Galaxy Z Fold7 combines powerful hardware with Galaxy AI in an ultra-thin form factor, allowing users to perform previously unimaginable tasks," said Annika Bizon, VP of Product and Marketing at Samsung UK & Ireland.
Security and Market Accessibility
Samsung also improved the security of its devices with the Knox Enhanced Encrypted Protection (KEEP) feature, creating encrypted data storage for apps. Additionally, the launch of the Z Flip7 FE priced at $899 represents a strategic move towards making foldable smartphones more accessible while maintaining quality and performance.
Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold7 and Z Flip7 demonstrate significant progress in integrating advanced technology and functionality, appealing to a wider audience and highlighting that foldable devices are becoming an integral part of the mobile experience.
