Global payment leader PayPal has expanded its crypto offerings for US clients to include Solana and Chainlink.
PayPal's Expanded Offering
Digital assets like Solana and Chainlink are now available for buying, selling, holding, and transferring directly through PayPal for US users. Previously, PayPal's portfolio included major cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, and Bitcoin Cash.
Impact on Users
PayPal's increased focus on cryptocurrencies highlights its commitment to offering a wider range of digital assets. With SOL and LINK support, and over 400 million users worldwide, about 300 million of whom are in the US, this move may positively influence these assets.
Previously Available Cryptocurrencies
While PayPal began offering cryptocurrency services in October 2020, initial services were limited, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, and Bitcoin Cash. In August 2023, Ethereum and Solana's stablecoin PayPal USD also became listed, being included as payment methods on the platform.
PayPal continues to broaden its cryptocurrency capabilities, which may further digital asset adoption among users.
