Pi Network delays mainnet transition again, causing frustration among users awaiting project development.
Another Delay Instead of More Clarity
Pi Network, the controversial cryptocurrency project promising digital asset mining through smartphones, emerged over five years ago. Despite numerous developments, its mainnet and native token remain unreleased, causing frustration among its multi-million member community demanding information on these milestones.
Deadline Extensions and User Frustration
Earlier this year, the project's team stated that the primary target is the launch of the 'Open Network,' slated to commence after users complete Know-Your-Customer (KYC) verifications and migrate to the mainnet (known as the Grace Period). Initially set to finish by late September, the migration was extended to November 30, then to New Year’s Eve. Recently, developers announced another extension to January 31, 2025, to accommodate more participants. Many community members have expressed annoyance over the frequent delays, noting the monthly extensions.
Future Plans
Earlier in December, Pi Network declared that 18 million individuals completed KYC verification, with 8 million having migrated to the mainnet. Developers suggested the 'Open Network' could launch as early as Q1 2025.
The repeated delays have led to dissatisfaction within the community, leaving many skeptical about future promises from the project team.
