Pi Network is making strides towards launching its mainnet, focusing on making cryptocurrency mining accessible through mobile devices, yet faces criticism for delays.
Inching Closer to the Goal
The Pi Network project aims to simplify crypto mining for a wide audience by allowing Pi coin mining directly from mobile devices with minimal energy consumption. Despite being around for years, its main token and open mainnet are not live yet. The team promises progress in the coming months, but the community is divided: some are optimistic about the news, while others remain skeptical. Earlier this year, the team stated the mainnet would launch once 15 million people completed KYC. Recently, Pi News disclosed only 1 million more are needed since 14 million have already been verified. The KYC deadline has been extended to November 30.
Encouraging Validators
Following the announcement of the extended KYC deadline, the Pi Network team is urging users to become validators. Participants contributing accurately to the process are promised Pi tokens as a reward.
Major Pi Node Update
Developers released Pi Node Version 0.5.0, described as a major update preparing nodes for the mainnet blockchain. 'This update transitions Nodes to the Testnet2 blockchain, simulating the Mainnet environment and testing the switch between Testnet and Mainnet blockchains. The original Testnet will remain active for now but will soon close for Node use,' reads a recent disclosure.
Pi Network is advancing toward its mainnet launch with significant steps including completing KYC for 15 million users and releasing a major Pi Node update. Attention to the project remains intense, and its future is a topic of lively discussion.
