Pi Network has announced that its Open Network period of Mainnet will start on February 20, 2025, marking a significant milestone in the platform's six-year development.

Pi Network's Path to the Open Network

Pi Network's journey to the Open Network included several key stages: The launch of Mainnet, which was restricted from external networks in December 2021; Acceleration of KYC processing from July 1, 2024; and the upcoming Open Network launch, which will enable global transactions and new integrations.

Expected Changes from the Transition to Open Network

The transition to Open Network will bring key changes such as external blockchain connectivity, expansion of decentralized nodes, business integration and compliance, as well as the growth of the Pi ecosystem, including the ability to conduct Pi payments for goods and services.

How Pioneers and Developers Can Prepare

Pioneers should complete their KYC verification and Mainnet migration. They should continue mining and engaging with apps that support the ecosystem. Developers are encouraged to enhance existing Mainnet applications and explore new integrations possible with the Open Network activation.

The Open Network launch opens new opportunities for Pi Network, but it's uncertain whether the project can meet the scheduled deadlines. The community is now looking forward to expanded functionality and increased user engagement.
