Prenetics Global, listed on Nasdaq, announced the purchase of $20 million in Bitcoin, becoming the first medical organization with such assets.

Prenetics Global acquired 187.42 BTC through its custody account at Kraken at an average price of $106,712 per Bitcoin.

Comments from Prenetics CEO

Prenetics CEO Danny Yeung commented on the purchase: > “With our strengthened balance sheet of $117 million in cash, BTC, and short-term assets, we now have the financial foundation to pioneer innovative treasury management approaches, including our historic bitcoin treasury strategy. But this is just the beginning; we have the capital partnerships and the conviction to build one of the most important Bitcoin treasuries in healthcare.”

New Advisor and Her Role

Tracy Hoyos Lopez, a former prosecutor and Head of Strategic Initiatives at Kraken, has joined Prenetics as an advisor. She played a role in convincing US President Donald Trump about Bitcoin.

Prenetics Global is making a significant move towards Bitcoin, opening new opportunities for financial innovation in healthcare.
