Pump.fun, a meme coin launchpad, reached a historical revenue level in November amidst content moderation challenges.
Record Numbers
According to data from DeFi Llama, Pump.fun's revenue in November reached $82.78 million, marking its highest level since the platform's launch in March 2024. This represents a 207% increase from October's revenue of $30.5 million. The platform also saw the highest token launches in its history with 69,046 Solana-powered tokens released on November 20, contributing to a total volume of $4.15 billion in the past two weeks.
Content Moderation Challenges
Despite the record numbers, the platform came under criticism for its livestream feature used to broadcast harmful content. This feature was launched in August 2024 but was recently disabled following community complaints. Pump.fun's team has implemented additional measures to strengthen moderation, including removing inappropriate content and flagging NSFW materials.
Founder's Response to Criticism
On November 23, Pump.fun's founder, Alon, issued a statement assuring the public of active content moderation efforts, with teams of engineers and moderators on board. He acknowledged that moderation isn't perfect and urged users to report harmful content to support channels.
Despite moderation issues, Pump.fun continues to grow and implement changes to ensure user safety and increased transaction volumes on the platform.
